Public Notice

July 1, 2024 - Additional footage was captured on Friday June 28, 2024, in cooperation with Los Alamos County. We have uploaded the images and converted the raster data into vector data which will allow images to be used as a feature layer on our GIS map. We have published it on our online Property Map Search, ready for the public to use. Visit our Property Map Search, agree to the terms and conditions and select OK.

Fraudulent letters threaten seizure of properties with tax debt!

Rio Arriba County Assessor’s Office will be mailing out the 2025 Notice of Values by April. Please review the Notice of Value as this will determine your tax bill. If you have any questions or did not receive the Notice of Value, please contact our office at (505) 753-7019 or (575) 588-7726.

Goals

  • Discover, list and value all real and personal property (including manufactured homes and livestock) in Rio Arriba County in adherence to the NM Property Tax Code.
  • Implement a reappraisal program to canvass the entire county to assure every tax payer contributes their fair share of the tax burden.
  • Provide all available information to the public and any governmental entities required of our office.
  • Provide employees with the necessary training and education needed to perform and excel in their duties while promoting professional growth.
  • Providing the necessary resources to provide staff the means to achieve goals in a professional and efficient work environment.

County Wide Re-Appraisal

Rio Arriba County Assessor's office staff is in the process of conducting a mass re-appraisal county wide. If you see them on your property that is why they are there. Updating new value is beneficial to all the Rio Arriba county tax payers because tax dollars collected go to your schools and county hospital. More new value means the tax levies go down. In most cases unless new bonds have been passed for that tax year.

Questionnaires

If you find a questionnaire on your door or gate requesting more information, please contact our office. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and ensures that your assessment which (determines your tax bill) is accurate.

Veteran's Exemption

If you are a veteran or disabled veteran and are not getting a veteran's exemption; please come in and get an application from us or download the one provided on the Veteran's Exemption Form page.

Head of Household Exemption

If you are the owner of a home in Rio Arriba County and it is your primary residence; you are eligible for a head of household exemption. Please notify this office if you would like to claim this exemption.

Valuation Freeze

If you are age 65 or older or disabled and have a household income of $41,900 or less please come in and apply for the valuation freeze on your primary home. If you know a person who might qualify please pass this information on to them.
