Pursuant to NMSA 1978, Section 1-22-3.1 (E)(1), I, Sarah Archuleta, Rio Arriba County Clerk, do hereby give notice to the public and any interested party that the 2026 Municipal Officer Election, for the City of Española, will be held on March 3, 2026, for the following positions:

Probate clerk for Judge Elias Coriz will be on a schedule for Wednesdays from 1pm to 5pm and Fridays from 1pm to 5pm. Call 505-753-1780 to make an appointment.

Note: Copies of marriage licenses are available from the county clerk of the county where the marriage license was issued. Copies of divorce decrees are available from the district court where the court order was filed. For further information about these services, please contact the appropriate county clerk or district court. Rio Arriba County District Court is the First Judicial District Court.
Clerk's Notes
- Clerk staff will not conduct searches (They can provide a list of local abstract and title companies upon request).
- Clerk staff cannot give legal advice on whether the documents you want recorded are correct, complete, or legally sufficient for your purposes (Please see an attorney).
- The clerk staff will assist you in any other way possible. We are here to record and file your documents as public record and maintain them for your future use.
- Clerk staff will collect the recording fee payment of $25 per each set of 10 entries on any document.
- Please add a cover letter with contact information and a self addressed stamped envelope for any recordings mailed to our office. This will ensure that the Clerk's Office is able to discuss a recording with you if needed.
- We will accept documents for recording from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with the exception of weekends and holidays. If our office has any other closure we will have a notice posted.
Marriage License Requirements
- Both applicants need to be present.
- Both applicants need to be at least 18 years of age.
- Both applicants need a current legal pictured ID.
- Both applicants need an original social security card or birth certificate.
- Fee is $55.00
- Parental consent with a signed and notarized affidavit from biological parent and the original birth certificate if 16 or 17 years of age.
- Court order if 15 years of age.
- Marriage licenses are issued and valid immediately.
- Marriage licenses do not expire.
- Blood tests are not required.
- Marriage licenses are issued Monday thru Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm.
The license is valid anywhere in the state of New Mexico and must be returned to the county clerk's office where it was purchased for recording purposes. Once the Clerk's Office has recorded your marriage information, the original marriage license will be returned to you. At that time, you may purchase a certified copy of the marriage application. The certified copy is used by many agencies requiring proof of marriage such as the NM Social Security Office, NM Motor Vehicle, and by employers for the purpose of adding a spouse for insurance purposes.
Oil & Gas Documents
- Send in your oil and gas document via email to the below-mentioned clerk staff to begin calculations. This will eliminate sending your document back and forth via postal service and cutting multiple checks.
- Point of contact will be Tanaeah Samora.
- Send in an excel spreadsheet of your exhibits via email. This will cut down on the turnaround time. Also, this will help the staff to accurately charge without overcharging on duplicate entries.
- To help you accurately calculate and/or understand the fees of your oil & gas recordings we have included the following list of entries Rio Arriba County charges for:
- Grantor & grantee
- Lessor & lessee
- Books & pages that are referenced in Rio Arriba County only
- Section, township, and range located in Rio Arriba County only
- Well names/Claim names

Federal Voting Assistance Program
