Responsibilities

The Treasurer's Office is responsible for all monies received and disbursed for the county and state agent for licenses as put for by laws.

In addition to collecting taxes, the County Treasurer is responsible for making distributions to the statutory beneficiaries of the county which include:

  • State Debt Service
  • Chama Valley Schools
  • Dulce Independent Schools
  • Española Public Schools
  • Jemez Mountain Schools
  • Mesa Vista Independent Schools
  • Penasco Independent Schools
  • Northern New Mexico College
  • East Rio Arriba Soil and Water Conservation District
  • Upper Chama Soil and Water Conservation District
  • Cuba Soil and Water Conservation District
  • Upper Rio Grande Water Shed
  • Presbyterian Española Hospital
  • City of Española
  • The Village of Chama

Review or Pay your Property Taxes Online

The Rio Arriba County Treasurer’s Office is now accepting property tax payments online.

Online payments may be submitted using your VISA, MasterCard, Discover, bank debit card, or by electronic transfer from your checking account. You will be able to print a transaction receipt as confirmation of payment.

  • A service fee of 2.95% with a $2.00 minimum per transaction will be applied to the total charge.
  • A flat fee of $1.50 will be applied for electronic transfer from your checking account “E-Checks”.
  • All service fees charged on debit/credit transactions are retained by the payment processing company and will show as “AMS SERVICE FEE” on your cardholder statement.
  • All service fees are non-refundable.
  • Rio Arriba County does not charge or retain any of these fees.

The Treasurer’s Office is not responsible for payments made on the incorrect account so please verify all the information before remitting payment.
