 Position:  FINANCE I

Positions Available: 1      DEPARTMENT: FINANCE -TIERRA AMARILLA

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Keep accurate records in accounts payable;
    • Reviews accounting documents to verify amounts, extensions, codes, total, etc. against supporting documents;
    • Prepare payment vouchers;
    • Assures that transactions re credited and debited to proper accounts;
    • Reviews accounting forms for proper completion, amounts, coding , discounts and taxes;
    • Verifies accuracy of computer printouts against input information;
    • Contact Vendors throughout the County;
    • Prepare utility vouchers; verify billing; and present for approval;
    • Enter all data into the accounts payable system and log all purchase orders;
    • Maintain and make service calls for postage meter;
    • Prepare direct payment vouchers, reviews all travel and mileage and per-diem;
    • Takes care of all leases;
    • Enter W-9 vendors for direct payment vouchers and contracts and enters and files all W-9’s;
    • Maintain records and files for accounts payable reports and vendor files;
    • Assist in answering phones.  

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITES:   

  • Knowledge of the principles of business and County government organization;
  • Knowledge of methods to tactfully deal with the public;
  • Proficiency in data entry using keyboard and key pad;
  • A combination of college education, training and experience in accounting, Finance or business totaling 2 years;
  • Knowledge of basic math, filing, and reading comprehension;
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical computations;
  • Employee will be required to take job-related courses;
  • Work Key Scores Preferred;

A High School Diploma or GED is required. Selected applicants must complete and pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test and possess a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
