Commission Approves Rio Arriba County Sherriff’s Office Purchasing New Units

A portion of County general funds, set aside yearly for the Sheriff’s Office, has made it possible for a purchase of three new units, which will be used for deputies during patrol. Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, Paul Martinez said the units were purchased for $32,000 each, with an additional $1,475 for the kits designed to customize the units, which will coordinate with the sheriff’s office logo.

“It was exciting to work on something like this because it was a new experience and a fun challenge,” Martinez said.

Martinez, along with the new Rio Arriba County Sheriff, Tommy Rodella, collaborated with east coast based company, Grafic Shoppe, to create the design, which embellished the vehicles. “I was very pleased to work with the new sheriff closely, and I plan to continue to work with him in the future,” Martinez said.

The units are expected to be on patrol within a month and are projected to be used by County sheriffs for up to 15 years.  For pictures of the units, please log onto our Facebook page.
